Sports

Importance of Sports

Sports refers to an activity involving physical activity and skill. Here, two or more parties compete against each other. Sports are an integral part of human life and there is great importance of sports in all spheres of life. Furthermore, Sports help build the character and personality of a person. It certainly is an excellent tool to keep the body physically fit. Most noteworthy, the benefits of Sports are so many that books can be written. Sports have a massive positive effect on both the mind and body.

Activities

Kabaddi

In March 2024, our college Kabaddi team participated in Virudhunagar District Inter-Collegiate Tournament at SDAT. On Sep 19, our students participated in District-level Tournament at SDAT, Virudhunagar. Our college Kabaddi Team students participated in CM Trophy District-level Tournament and one of our students, K. Mugesh (III B.Com), got selected for the State level Match held at Nehru Stadium from 9-13 Oct 2024. Our Kabaddi team also participated in MKU Inter-zone Kabaddi Tournament at Rajapalayam Rajus College.

Volleyball

Our college Volleyball team participated in CM Trophy-District level Tournament at Kshathriya Girls School, Virudhunagar on Sep 16, 2024. We also participated in the MKU Inter-zone Women’s Tournament on Oct 3 & 4, 2024, which was organized in our college. Our College Volleyball Team also played in the State-Level Volleyball Championship 2024 at Nadar Higher Secondary School, Rajapalayam, organized by Tamil Nadu Mercantile Bank.

Badminton

On Sep 17, 2024, K. Kiruthika (I B.Sc. Maths) participated in CM Trophy District-Level Tournament at SDAT Indoor Stadium, Virudhunagar. Our college Badminton Team also participated in the MKU Inter-Zone Badminton Tournament at Lady Doak College, Madurai.

Handball

On Sep 17, 2024, our Handball Team participated in CM Trophy District-Level Tournament at SDAT, Virudhunagar and won third position. Students M. Lavanya (I BA English) and L. Karunya Alphin (III B.Com) got selected for the State Team and played at SDAT, Trichy from Oct 11-14, 2024.

Chess

Our college chess players participated in APS Academy Chess Tournament at Sri Rao Bahadur A.K.D.D.R Girls Higher Sec School, Rajapalayam. G. Niveditha (I BA Tamil) won 4th place on July 22, 2024. On August 11, 2024, she also secured 3rd place at the District-level Chess Tournament at Ananda Vidyalaya, Srivilliputhur.

At the MKU Inter-collegiate Chess Tournament at VVV College, Virudhunagar, our students secured ranks among 74 participants:
- M.G. Niveditha (I BA Tamil) - 20/74 - Murugalatha (III BBA) - 22/74 - G. Ezhilarasi (III B.Com CA) - 41/74 - Visalya (I BA English) - 64/74

Athletics

G. Sivajothi (II B.Com) secured III Place in 1500m in CM Trophy District-Level Competition.
