A.K.D. Dharma Raja Women's College was established in 1990 to address the long-standing educational needs of women in Rajapalayam and its neighboring villages. The college is the crowning achievement of the Sri Rao Bahadur A.K.D. Dharma Raja Educational Charity Trust, which also operates a Nursery School, Primary School, Middle School, Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Girls’ Higher Secondary School, and a College of Education for Women.

This institution was brought into existence through the vision and foresight of the late Sri A.A. Subba Raja, former Managing Trustee and Municipal Chairman of Rajapalayam.
